Thank You - Parents
I would like to thank the parents for trusting me to coach this super group of athletes. These young girls are athletes that have that special drive to really push themselves to excel in all they engage in.
My goal was to see each and every athlete on the team improve throughout the season. I know some did not get much actual game time, but every player improved from the first day of practice. My goal was never to discourage any of the players, especially when they did not get to play. In all honesty, many of our practices were more competitive then a few of the teams we played. No one is second in my eyes, all players are winners and their dedication is one of the strongest I have experienced in a while.
This blog was suppose to be a huge "Thank You" to the PARENTS for all their support. Many things you guys did behind the scene helped propel this team. From keeping the score book, making posters, taking pictures, setting up awnings, keeping count of the girls at tournaments, bringing in desserts, drinks, snacks, and more food. It is not very often a coach at this level, hears these words from several parents, "you just coach, and let us handle the other details."

First Win!!!
Congratulations to the players for posting their first win over Ewing Middle School 25-19 and 25-16. The game against Ewing gave us a great opportunity to see which new system (4-2 or 5-1 offense) would be most beneficial for the team.
It is always great to win, but our goal is to see improvement daily in practice which should reveal itself in games.
Overall, the players communicated and are beginning to work together on the court. The one area we need to concentrate on is consistent serving. All our players have the ability to serve and hopefully the first game jitters will be gone.
The Lady Golden Eagles will travel to Springfield on Thursday to begin our conference match-up. Thanks to all who traveled to the game on Tuesday and for your willingness to assist in any way.

8th Grade Players Working Hard in Practice
The 8th grade players have been working very hard during practice. We have especially been working on being more aggressive at the net and focusing on three hits. Our goal is to improve on a daily basis and peak at the end of the season for the Conference Tournament in October.
Each player will have a specific role and work daily on overall skills. I am pleased to be the 8th grade coach this year and the opportunity to work with an excellent group of athletes.
